Why am I doing this?

I need to dispel from your mind, as quickly as possible, the myths of internet marketing. Once I have, you will no longer be wasting time and money marketing your web site incorrectly, getting totally disgusted and then giving up. The more quickly you learn the truth, the more quickly you will start using my FREE Demo Version of the Zeus internet marketing robot. When Zeus starts finding ThemeSites, getting reciprocal links, building a Link Directory and generating traffic for your web site, you might like him so much, that you might upgrade to a paid version.

The Myths

You can be on the search engines top 10 list.

All you have to do is get a web site on the internet and sales will just start happening.

Once you submit to the search engines, then thousands of visitors will swarm to your web site.

You can pay someone $99 a month to market your site.

The Truth about Search Engines

Search Engine marketing is not everything it professes to be. It certainly is not the traffic producer that you have been told it is. Search engines are important, but they should only be a small part of your marketing efforts. You need to be able to submit to them, then   forget them.

Check out this article from the Los Angeles times. It explains what the people behind the search engines think about the future of the web and why you need reciprocal links.

How are you going to beat out the other 800,000,000 web pages on the internet? Your web site is in competition, for a top listing, with every one of them. What do you have that they don't? You are not going to beat them!

Tricks

There are no tricks that allow you, as a Web Site owner or webmaster, to ensure that your pages appear at the top of the search engine's query result lists. If someone had figured out a way to influence the search engines and was using it, don't you think the search engines would find out and correct the problem? These are robots we're dealing with. Could they possibly look at grammar? Spelling? Frequency of word use? They are able tell if you have used repetitious keywords. I designed and wrote the code for the Zeus internet robot, I know the tricks.

Now don't misunderstand me here, I'm not saying there aren't professional web marketers out there that can't influence the search engine query results. There are but they have spent years to learn their craft and have 1000s of hours of experience. I'm saying that kind of service and experience isn't available to most of us webmasters trying to grab just a little piece of the traffic for ourselves. Even if we could find experts like that, we probably couldn't afford them.

Stay clear of those marketers who only know how to submit your website over and over again. There is more to marketing than submitting. Honest web marketers will design a complete program that would be different than anyone else's plan. It would be specialized to your website and your needs. Just as real-world businesses might need salespeople, magazine ads or perhaps sales counters, others might need only a catalog. Websites are the same as those real-world businesses except in this new world of the internet we don't even know what we need and have to rely on the expert advice of others.

Two simple concepts for your web site's success.

Create traffic to your site

Have content to make them come back

Four Steps to get visitors to your site:

  1. Build a lot of properly constructed Web Pages using GOOD keywords.

  2. Submit them to the search engines correctly.

  3. Check that they are in the search engines WHEN they should be.

  4. Get as many Reciprocal Links as possible!

This marketing section of the cyber-robotics.com web site explains ALL 4 steps.

Building a lot of properly constructed web pages and having dozens of reciprocal links is the secret; not repeating keywords, resubmitting to a 1,000 link pages, resubmitting monthly or making extra fake pages. Spend your time and energy in giving the robots what they want. Prove to them your website is worth putting at the front of the pack.

If you have a lot of links to your web site, the robots will find you faster and more often, as they travel the Internet. They will spider your pages more often and they will believe your site is more popular than the others. This will also automatically submit your pages to search engines, with you never having to do that chore again, once you have the reciprocal links pointing to you. This will put you near the top of their listings.

Real world analogies to web site marketing

A simple analogy to most web site marketing would be having a nice, 4 color, 3-fold brochure, made about your business, and then placing it in the exact center of the Sahara Desert. Who would ever find it?

key.jpg (5088 bytes)My favorite analogy to building and marketing a web site is much like what a housing contractor goes through from initial house design to closing the sale. I am taking a little liberty with the sales process, in that the contractor would neither be able to try selling the house himself by using newspaper ads nor by having multiple Realtors.

Design of the home

This is when we sit down and first discuss our goals and what we want to achieve with our house or web site. This goal is seldom reached, but changes many times, as we learn the realities of construction and marketing.

Laying the foundation

We turn it over to a web guru, they register the domain name and set up our individual storage area on the server's hard disk. Our blank home page is added and CGI scripts are built. Log analyzers are configured. Our foundation is poured.

Framing

We build our walls of pages and add our graphics and Italian tile.

Finishing

We check our spelling, edit, paint and clean up.

Placing the classified ads

We're now ready for our visitors, so we submit our ads to newspapers by hiring someone to do it or by doing it ourselves. But we've just found out there's a 6 month lag time before our ad is placed in all the areas we wanted it. Uh Oh, back to the bank for more financing. Why didn't they tell us before! Now our ad people tell us that we need to go ahead and resubmit the ads every month even thought we still don't have any visitors. I smell a rat here! Luckily our friend is the bank officer.

Finally our visitors start coming in and a few actually make it past the front door. Most only go to one room. In time people visit all the rooms and the outside areas. It's now been about 9 months, so we go back to the bank.

Now we're getting lots of calls where they ask stupid questions, or tell us they're coming and then never show up!

If we had more large newspapers or search engines we could get more visitors in 6 months or so.

No use messing with the smaller ones. They don't bring in enough visitors to make it worth our time to place the ads.

Placing the listing with multiple Realtors.

The Realtors are like Reciprocal Links (notice the R and the L became magically capitalized !-). Each Realtor we add is bringing qualified visitors to our house. The Realtors don't want to waste their own time or their prospect's time. These visitors already know the details of our house, so they can make a decision. They come, the first time, to look around and make notes. They save you into their favorites or list. Then, in a few days, they come back again if there was any content to entice them.

We want more visitors, so we add more Realtors. We can have as many as we want, unlike the ads where there are only so many major newspapers and only so many people reading them! There are lots of Realtors.

Closing

Our house was professionally done and there haven't been any stumbling steps such as an unsecure server or misspellings. We've lead the visitor through the house in an organized way, so we finally get some offers and a sale. Unlike a house, we can use our web site for unlimited sales, so we add more Realtors.

In fact I think I will try this guy named Zeus, who will work forever, to go out and find ALL the realtors. All I have to do is select the BEST ones from his already-visited list and tell him who to call by choosing the phone numbers he has so conveniently included in his list. Great self-serving ad, wasn't it?
