Locomotive Section

The Zeus 1000 is an intelligent, information-harvesting, internet robot. He automatically explores the web, collecting data from web sites he has judged to be similar to the Theme he has been trained for.

Use  your ThemeSite Data Browser to automatically browse your database. You can choose the browsing sort modes.

This robot is able to seek out and find web sites by matching his Theme training against a Uniqueness score derived from an analysis of each web site visited. Zeus extracts hyperlinks, host email addresses, other email addresses, keywords, META contents, descriptions, titles and theme uniqueness, from every web page he visits. Zeus then parses, analyzes and filters the raw data into coherent information. 

After scoring the web site, he saves a condensed analysis of it to a Microsoft Jet Engine Database. This powerful relational database is compatible with your own programming applications or Microsoft Office products, such as Microsoft Access.

Zeus automates labor-intensive, web-specific related tasks. He generates hundreds, even thousands of links to your web site, collects information, works on your web site, and even creates and manages your reciprocal links and link HTML pages.

He is not a random wanderer like most web robots. You train him, using the concept of themes. He systematically looks for themed or multiple-themed sites of your choosing and training, in an intelligent fashion, not bothering other web sites. After his initial training is complete, he is virtually automatic.

He follows all Robotic rules and laws, making it easy for operators to follow the Robotics' Operator's Rules.

The Zeus 1000 is downloaded to you as an infant. He must be trained before he is able to traverse the web automatically. This Themed training will take about two hours. 1000 is the number assigned to an Infant Zeus. As the Zeus 1000 grows in knowledge, training and experience, the number classifying and identifying him will grow in value respectively.

Proprietary 'next generation' software routines, two years in development, guarantees Zeus can solve all web traversing contingencies. The web is a huge, diverse space. Growing in size every second of the day, this maelstrom of contingencies and possibilities makes it a challenge for any entity to live, communicate, and operate in this difficult medium. Zeus navigates cyber-dimensionally, thriving and learning, every second.

Zeus is 'net-responsible'. He will be responsible when requesting pages. He will not request, too fast, from the same server, even on '~' web hosting sites. He slows down when he finds a theme site and analyzes it at a responsible pace. He makes decisions quickly to go on to another site. He doesn't have to download an entire web site to base his decision to store data into the ThemeSite Database. He quickly makes decisions after scanning the Robot Exclusion File (if there is one), the Home Page and another web page. He decides to stay or go on to the next web site. If he stays, he slows down and goes to work harvesting information. Zeus makes even more decisions depending on how hungry and motivated he is. Are hyperlinks dispersed throughout the site or located on one page? Do we have a Host Email Address?

A properly designed robot will follow the Laws of Robotics and make it easy for the operator to follow the Commandments for Robot Operators.

 

Four Laws of Web Robotics

I. A Web Robot must show identification

Zeus identifies itself with the Referrer field.

II. A Web Robot must obey exclusion standards.

Follows the Standard for Robot Exclusion.

In 1993 and 1994, robots sometimes visited web sites where they were not welcome. Sometimes these reasons were robot specific. Perhaps a robot blasted servers with rapid fire requests or competitors wanted to keep certain robots out of their pages. Other sites needed to keep them out of certain areas. such as directories containing CGI scripts. A need arose and a standard was placed into existence. The widely adopted Standard for Robot Exclusion proposed by Martijn Koster is an attempt to address this need.

Zeus 1000 follows these adopted guidelines.

III. A web Robot must not hog resources

Zeus retrieves only what is needed. Checks all URLs carefully. Checks all results carefully. Never loops or repeats. Retrieves in moderation.

IV. A web Robot must report errors.

Notifies web sites of broken links within their sites.

 

Six Commandments for Robot Operators

I. Notify the world.

Zeus identifies itself with the Referrer field.

II Thou shalt test thy robot locally

Zeus has been tested for two years while in development. Testing is complete.

III. Thou shalt keep thy robot under control.

There has not been an instance of a Zeus robot losing control and running amuck throughout the internet.

IV. Thou shalt stay in contact with the world.

V. Thou shalt respect the wishes of webmasters

Zeus follows the wishes of all webmasters by reading their robots.txt file in their server's root directory and follows the instructions within.

VI. Thou shalt share results with thy neighbor.

Zeus, optionally at your selection, shares its results by including the Theme Keyword Gift, in email correspondence, initiated by the you. The keywords are listed in the order of frequency found throughout the internet, with number of occurrences listed.

ThemeSite Viewer

The ThemeSite Viewer is the area where you will spend most of your time after the initial training of the locomotive section.

You will sort, organize and view your ThemeSites by Theme Categories using your ThemeSite Viewer.

The ThemeSite Viewer window will enable you to sort your ThemeSite database in various ways. You can navigate forwards and backwards through the current sorted database list and view the data Zeus extracted. While visiting your ThemeSites you can organize your Database by adding or assigning a Theme Category to Them.

You can also manage your Link Directory listings by selecting ThemeSites to include in your Link Directory or updating a ThemeSite to Link Partner status.

Create and upload your Link Directory to your web site using FTP
(File Transfer Protocol).

Zeus will create and automatically upload your web site's Link Directory to your web site. Your Link Directory will be organized by your Theme choices. The Theme Categories you add will be the individual pages of your Link Directory. If you assign a ThemeSite with the Theme Aliens, an individual Aliens Link Directory page will be created when you upload your Link Directory. Any additional Aliens ThemeSites will also be included on this page.

Compose and send email manually or automatically to all selected addresses using the Email Manager.

Sending email is extremely easy. Just select an address from those Zeus found and has listed by Host email or other email. For it's simplicity, the Email Controls and Indicators are extremely powerful. These simple controls:

  • Will keep track of who you selected AND received email the last session. Either one respondent or multiples.
  • Display last date email was sent.
  • List the email that was sent.
  • Keep complete histories of every outgoing email.
  • Enable you to add and edit individual email messages.
  • Preview your messages.
  • Test your email system.
  • Easily add personal touches to your email.
  • Automatically add your link information to email messages.
  • Add a keyword gift so they never delete your message.

Edit text, maintain data and upgrade your ThemeSites to Link Partners with easy to use intuitive tools.

Zeus will also make it easy for you to Add and Edit the data in your ThemeSites database by:

key.jpg (5088 bytes) Use an important keyword for your Theme Category if possible. Each one of your Theme pages will be created around this keyword. These pages will be tuned to give it the highest result in the search engine listings when someone enters this keyword to be searched. You will be amazed at the number of visitors these pages will send to your web site when the search engines finally use them. Try to have many Theme pages with important keywords as your Theme Categories. You may want to use the Marketing Chart to hand-submit these pages to the major search engines after you have uploaded your first set to your web site. You don't have to hand-submit every one, just important ones, as all the search engine robots will find every Theme page in a few months, if you have a few good reciprocal links.

Useful tip: The ThemeSite Viewer will navigate through web sites just like your default browser. When a ThemeSite is being viewed in the ThemeSite Viewer, you can explore it by clicking on links just as you were surfing the web with your normal browser. This powerful feature simplifies your work of organizing the best ThemeSites. The smaller buttons in the lower left corner of the browser window work exactly like any other browser controls.
