Folder and File Structure for the Zeus Program

File and Folder Installation Locations

Zeus is installed in two different locations on your Windows computer's hard drive.

Zeus Program Files

  • The Zeus program executable files are installed in "C:\Program Files\Zeus\". These files are not used by the end-user.

Users 'Application Data' Files

  • The user's database and other user files that the Zeus program needs to store data, are installed in Project folders.

  • Project folders are located in each individual Windows User's "Application Data" folder, determined by the Operating System installed on the installation computer.
(By Microsoft decree, program data files are no longer allowed in 'Program Files')
    .

  • The current Zeus Project database file is indicated by the path located at the lower, right-corner of Zeus. This will tell you where your Zeus Project files are located.

'Application Data' Folder Locations as Determined by Your Operating System

Older Zeus users before Zeus Version 4.2.37

C:\Program Files\Zeus\

This was the default location for Zeus users with older Projects before Version 4.1.37,. These Zeus users may want to copy and paste their files and folders to the new locations set by Microsoft. This is not our idea, but part of Microsoft's answer to a secure operating system and Vista is the start of these new OSs that force this change. You will have to move these files and folders in the future.

Vista

OS(C:)\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Zeus Projects\Default\

XP

C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Local Settings\Application Data\Zeus Projects\Default\

Win95, Win98

C:\Windows\Local Settings\Application Data\Zeus Projects\Default\

The folders highlighted in Red are created when Zeus is installed and also when you create an additional Project using 'File > New Project' (see below).

The folders highlighted in Black are created when your Windows operating system was installed (these files must exist - do not delete them or rename them).

Note: If you do not see any of these folders it may be that they are Hidden. Make sure that Windows Explorer is set to show Hidden files.
