Templates
TIP: You can resize this help window for better viewing.
You must have a PRO Version to use the enhanced Link Directory features.
Templates allow you to change the look of your Link Directory in any way that you desire. The new directory creation subroutines use two text files, called Templates, to control the output of your directory theme pages. The presence of these text files activates the new Link Directory Engine code embedded in Zeus applications. When you create your directory Zeus using a PRO version and the Template files, Zeus will create your Link Directory using the commands he finds in the text files. They are located in the misc directory on your hard drive.

Zeus reads the Template files and uses the instructions in them to create your link Directory. This is simple programming using a computer language. Many languages read a text file and do something depending on the instructions in that file. The text file or files contain the program, which is written in special syntax that the computer language understands. Your Link Directory creation, using Templates, works the same way. Zeus reads the Template text files and follows the instructions located in them to build your directory.
A Link directory refresher:
A standard Zeus-generated Link Directory has many Theme Pages that are linked together through the NavBar.
At the bottom of each Theme Page is the link Information on adding your web site to our Link Directory link.
When a user clicks this link it goes to the LinkInfo Page. This is the page that contains information for other webmasters that allows them to easily and quickly add your website's link to their website. The LinkInfo Page must be created, once-only, with an HTML editor. Zeus does not create this page.
Directory Design
There are two files that will determine the basic look of the directory, headerinfo.txt and footerinfo.txt. These are located in the misc folder. You can access these files by clicking Tools, Options and then the Directory tab.
Clicking the buttons labeled HTML Header and HTML Footer will
open these files in Notepad so you can edit them.
These files are used to create the directory design to match your Websites
design.
There are two other text files that Zeus must find to use the PRO Version Link Directory Enhancement program code to build your Link Directory.
Check the page below for Folder locations for
your particular version of Windows.

The themepage_template.txt Template file controls the appearance of every Link Directory Theme Page.
links\misc\themepage_template.txt
The themeindex_template.txt Template file controls the appearance of the ThemeIndex Page (ThemeIndex.html)
links\misc\themeindex_template.txt
To modify the two Template text files:
The default Template files will create the standard Zeus Link Directory, very close to what Zeus has always created in older versions. Editing the Template files will allow you to control the appearance of your Link Directory pages. Use Windows Notepad or any text editor to edit the Template files.
Start your Windows Notepad text editor program by clicking Start/Accessories/Notepad.
Start off simply, Just edit the ThemePage Template file first. Save the ThemeIndex Template for later. Try locating sections of the file that control the various sections of the Theme Pages. Study the Comments in the Template files. You do not have to understand all the various DataTags and SubTemplates to customize your directory. Once you locate a particular section you wish to change, it's easy to just change the styles like font size or color by just changing the HTML code in that section. You can move code around if you wish. If you don't want a NavBar or something else, just remark out or delete that section of the code.
If you make a mistake, just rename or delete the file in question. When you restart Zeus he will install the default file again.
